In this set of compositions 'spatial sensation' (in terms of landscape, paysage musicaux) becomes important as in my prior work 'Two Places' (2005). Also the following terms have been guidelines in the process of composition: order/disorder, airy/heavy, voyage, female voice, transitions.
In "paysage musicaux [extérieur]" (Track 6) Dr. Karlheinz ESSL's software tool FontanaMixer 1.0 (generative sound environment) was utilized. The tool was fed with short female voice samples, digital drum snippets, and animal voice samples. The 2nd and 3rd part of "paysage musicaux" is in the works. (Ralph LICHTENSTEIGER)
Ralph LICHTENSTEIGER's work grows from the modern, post-conservatory tradition of composers like John CAGE and Morton FELDMAN, toward a form of hard-disk chamber music that employs a variety of acoustic, naturalistic, environmental, concrete, and abstract sounds.
